Tuition

Picture
I have been working in education for over ten years, and teaching glass bead making allows me to combine my love for teaching with my love for glass. Come and visit me at my studio for a day of learning and playing - and lots of tea and biscuits!

You are welcome to visit for either a full day, half a day, or a 90-minute taster session. As an indication, during a full day, you would most likely spend the morning learning a bit about the materials and health and safety, then beginning with simple round beads and pulling stringer (thin glass rods) to use for decoration. In the afternoon, we can begin working towards your own preferences - for example, dots, organic beads, pressed beads, etc. I have approximately 400 different colours of glass, and students are allowed to choose freely from most of them!

During a 90-minute-taster session, we'll have a good go at making round beads, working with simple decoration, such as rolling them in frit, or placing simple dots.

I also offer advanced tuition - usually, bead makers come to me looking to enhance their sculptural bead making skills, but we often end up covering stringer control, hollow beads, or other 'tricky stuff' while we're at it.

All classes include materials, unlimited tea and coffee, biscuits, and me cleaning and posting your beads to you afterwards.

Prices are as follows:

1 day (usually 10am-4pm) - £125 one-to-one, or £100 each for two people sharing
3-hour half day - £65 one-to-one, or £60 each for two people sharing
90-minute taster session - £35 one-to-one, or £30 each for two people sharing
